The legendary Nancy Grace will return to CrimeCon 2026—a familiar voice for this community and a true CrimeCon staple. This time, she’ll take the stage to dive into a case that continues to haunt investigators: the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie. In this powerful session, she’ll explore how cutting-edge forensic breakthroughs are helping the FBI close in on a suspect. Nancy will break down how advances in DNA and technology are reshaping the manhunt—and why this case is far from over.
Steve and Kristi Goncalves’ world was shattered when their daughter, Kaylee, was brutally murdered alongside her three friends in Moscow, Idaho. Even after the investigation, court proceedings, and eventual plea deal, the trauma continues to affect their family. Like many others, their family has faced ongoing harassment and re-victimization in the media and online. Now, they’re working to change that.
Steve, Kristi, and their daughter Alivea have partnered with Andy Kahan of Crime Stoppers to create legislation in Idaho prohibiting the public release of photos from death investigations—a law that was recently passed thanks to Alivea's efforts. In this session moderated by NCVC's Renee Williams, Steve, Kristi, and Kahan will explore how the true crime community can better support victims' families, choose to empower rather than exploit, and turn their passion into meaningful advocacy.
For years, Blanca Simpson worked inside the Murdaugh family home—quietly witnessing the routines, relationships, and private dynamics behind one of South Carolina’s most powerful legal dynasties. At CC26, she will share what she observed in the days leading up to the murders of Maggie and Paul Murdaugh, and the details that later became critical during Alex Murdaugh’s trial. Joined by Criminally Obsessed host Anne Emerson, Blanca will reflect on the experience of testifying against her former employer, the moments that stood out most in hindsight, and how she has navigated life in the years since the case that captivated the nation.
Gilbert King and Leo Schofield will join us at CC26 to explore one of the most compelling wrongful conviction cases in recent memory. After spending 36 years in prison for his wife’s murder—a crime he has always maintained he did not commit—Leo will share his story of resilience and the long road to freedom.
The case, featured in the critically acclaimed podcast Bone Valley, will be examined alongside host and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Gilbert King, whose investigation uncovered new evidence and a confession from another man that had gone ignored for years. Together, they’ll also preview what’s next as the story continues to unfold.
Reminder: Guest and creator announcements will continue regularly, and the official CC26 schedule will be released approximately 30 days before we get to Las Vegas.
